A Look Back on 2020
We hope everyone enjoyed their holidays and are looking forward to a new year. Fortunately, 2020 is behind us and we can greet the new year with hopes of returning to normal. Although last year was difficult in many ways, with your support, the Sunrise Fund was able to continue to help individuals in our community with treatment for addiction. Let me share with you who we helped in 2020! And by we, I mean the sunrise fund and YOU ☺
In 2020, the Sunrise Fund provided funding for 12 people, which was two more than the previous year, including 5 females and 7 males from the Cape Ann area ranging in age from 20 to 55 years old. This year, we awarded just over $39,000 in recovery scholarships! How amazing! None of this would have been possible without support from our community, family and friends.
Remember the comfy sunrise fund sweatshirt you bought? That helped put one of those people in treatment.
Remember the #givingTuesday donation you made through Facebook or Paypal? That helped cover a day of someone’s recovery.
Remember the PayPal donation you generously sent in memory of a family member or friend you lost to substance abuse? That money helped treat another person’s addiction and hopefully end another family’s pain.
We cannot thank our supporters and our Cape Ann community enough for accepting our mission with open arms and helping people struggling with addiction issues. Together we have learned that talking about addiction openly and without bias, creates a community of understanding, support and healing.
As for 2021, our goal is to be able to put on another successful golf tournament (date TBA) and a few other fundraising events. We hope to continue to help even more people this year, and each year going forward.
If you are looking for help or resources regarding addiction, please email us! We can also offer some additional resources/direction if you have lost a loved one and would like grief support.
